As you may have seen on my homepage there is a logo for `ukap` or more formally the United Kingdom Association of Penturners. I am the founder of this group and it is going from strength to strength thanks to the participation of the members.
We started as a group of UK penturners who were used to posting messages in the IAP forum (International Association of Penturners), although we knew of each other we had never met face to face.
A meeting was arranged and the turn-out was brilliant, with many members travelling hundreds of miles to get there, we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and promised to make it a regular event. The group was formed.
At first I started a database with all the members details on it, if I needed to get information to each member this was done via email. This was okay but we couldn`t discuss things between us, so I started a Yahoo group so members of the ukap had a voice and it is easier to get members views on any subject raised. Just recently one of our members suggested we move to a purpose built forum on his website and as we were experiencing problems with Yahoo this offer was accepted, so now the new ukap home is connected to a website that sells components for penmakers, thanks Mervyn.
Membership is open to any penmaker, just go to www.ukpenkits.com and register to open an account (you are under no obligation to purchase anything, but would be nice to support our new host), when registered go to UKAP forum link and you will find us.
All I ask is if you join the ukap please participate in the forum, post a reply or a question periodically so the rest of the members will get to know you, we are a really friendly bunch who have all got one thing in common, we all love making pens.
Remember it is still a small group still in it`s infancy but a great way to contact other UK penmakers for advice, get togethers, demonstrations etc.. Who knows where we will end up, or what direction the group will take, so get involved and join us today! Mark Ligget
