Pen Care Page

These pens are not for putting away in a drawer, they have been turned on a precision lathe using the best materials that I could source,

every pen and pencil I make is for the enjoyment of writing aswell as looking beautiful for many years. Follow some of these basic tips

and I am sure you will be delighted with your purchase and hopefully refer my name to others.

How to care for your new pen...

Each handmade pen is made with care to last for years to come. Follow these simple guidelines to ensure you get the most from your pen.

Normal Use

-          Pens are made to write with so don’t be afraid to use it. But don’t use it for other things which may damage the pen.

-          Some people have a habit of chewing the end of their pen. This is not advisable for any pen but particularly for something that has been caringly handmade.

-          Refills and inks are readily available for all the pens that I make. Be sure to take the original refill with you to the store until you are sure of the exact item to fit your pen.

-          Be careful not to buy the cheapest inks available. Although they should not damage the pen, they may not provide the best results in your writing.

To Clean

-          Clean by polishing with a dry duster or cloth.

-          If there are stubborn marks use a slightly damp cloth first but use a dry cloth straight after.

-          If the wooden barrel of the pen becomes dull through use, polish with a small amount of furniture wax, not spray polish.

-          Don’t use abrasives on the pen otherwise this will scratch the surface of the pen spoiling the fine finish.

Things to Avoid

-          Don’t get it wet. If you do, dry it out thoroughly. Like most pens there will be metal parts that can rust if exposed to water.

-          Don’t expose to extremes of heat or cold as natural materials can change in shape or colour.

-          Don’t leave the pen out in the sun for long periods if your pen has any wooden components as the finish may fade or it may even crack or split.
